Richard M. Tolson, 69, Tappen, passed away at his home in Tappen, April 29, 2013.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 3, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Pettibone, with Rev. Larry Harvala officiating.
There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place.
Richard was born May 30, 1943, in Portsmouth, VA, the son of William and Flora Belle (Ward) Tolson. He joined the US Marine Corps on August 12, 1960, and was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC, where he served as a mechanic and earned his rifle marksmanship and his good conduct medal. After working numerous years for Parker Drilling, as head mechanic throughout ND and Alaska, Richard retired to pursue his passion for farming, and his and his wife Dian's, dream of owning their own horse ranch.
Our loving Dad loved to fish, hunt, rollerskate, ride his horses and spend time with family and friends.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Dian Tolson, Tappen; his children, Evelyn Tolson-Jones (Brian), NC, Michelle Tolson-Apodaca (Sef), CO, Richard Morris Tolson Jr., ND, Stanley Gary Tolson (Kelsey), ND, Catherin Amanda Tolson-Benjamin (Shane), MT, Kassie L. Lacina (Richard), ND, Amanda K. Bulman (Aaron), MN, Jeremy M. Wallner (Ashley), ND; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and his beloved sister, Barbara D. Ulmer, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Flora Belle Tolson; his brother, James "Jimmy" L. Tolson, VA; and his sister, Sylvia A. York, VA.
