Elsie Kisse, 88, Bismarck, died July 8, 2015, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, August 21, 2015, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Craig A. Schweitzer officiating. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.Elsie Mathilda was born February 14, 1927, at Halliday, ND, to Frederick and Caroline (Maier) Gegelmann. She was raised and educated at Halliday, and after high school graduation, Elsie attended Dickinson State Teachers College. She taught in country schools for six years, then did office work at several businesses and was assistant cashier at Montgomery Wards for five years. Elsie lived in New Town, Dickinson, and Steele, ND, before moving to Bismarck, ND, in 1966. On August 26, 1951, Elsie married Emil A. Kisse at Beulah, ND. Emil died in Bismarck on May 31, 1990. Elsie loved the outdoors, nature, and quiet moments. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary for which she once served as Secretary/Treasurer. She also enjoyed her time spent working for the Foster Grandparent Program at Solheim Elementary School from the 2003-2004 school year.Elsie was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and many good friends. She is survived by her two daughters and one son-in-law, Caroline and Jerol Johnson, Ray, ND, and Noreen Ritz, San Jose, CA; her sister-in-law, Marjorie Gegelmann, Bismarck; and several nieces and nephews.Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emil; five brothers, Herman, Albert, Henry, Jacob, and Gustof Gegelmann; her sister, Ella Entzel; and one sister who died in infancy, Rose.
