Doris Jean Hewitt, 88, Bismarck, died September 24, 2015, at Heartwood Senior Living in Crosby, MN. Services will be held Saturday, October 10, at 1:00 pm, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Steve Sathre officiating. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, south of Mandan, next to her deceased husband, Harry. Doris Jean Torkelson was born May 13, 1927, to Hans and Tina Torkelson in Grafton, N.Dak. She attended school in Grafton. She met and married Harry Hewitt in 1947. They lived in Edgeley, N.Dak. until 1953 when they moved to Bismarck. She remained in Bismarck until 2011 when she then moved to Heartwood Senior Living in Crosby, MN, to be closer to family. Doris will always be remembered as a classy, spunky, fun-loving Mom, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, sister, relative and friend. Once you met her, you never forgot her. She had amazing spirit and never ending energy. She loved and lived her life to the fullest and will be missed by all. She will always hold a special place in our hearts. She was truly one of a kind. Doris is survived by her three sons: Skip (Linda), Breezy Point, MN, Steve (Kristyn), Mound, MN, Scott (MaryJane), Houston, TX: her grandchildren, Chad (Bev), Eric (Jennie), Ross (Erin), Jack, Grace, Gretchen, Adam and Helen and her great-grandchildren: Nathan, Julia, Maxwell, Charlie, Addie and Harrison; her brother, Marlin and her sister Eileen. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry.
