Pete was born October 15, 1923, at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck to Anton and Marcella (Burgad) Horner. He was raised on a farm south of Linton and graduated from Linton High School. Pete married Genevieve Rohrich on February 11, 1946, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Linton. He served in the United States Army. He owned multiple businesses in Linton including a freight business, clothing store, and furniture store. Pete learned how to install carpet which inspired him to start his own business. He developed a carpet and upholstery cleaning solution and named it Magi-Touch, and from this the business name was formed. In 1958, he opened a small carpet store in Bismarck on Broadway and eventually moved to his current location on 9th Street and Sweet Avenue. Pete was so proud that his son Randy joined him in the business forty years ago and now includes two of Randy’s sons. Pete enjoyed spending time and interacting with customers, employees, and friends at Magi-Touch until a short time ago. Pete loved visiting with anyone he met, his Sundays at the farm, and most of all being with his family and grandchildren. His faith was a very important part of his life, especially attending daily Mass and praying the rosary. Pete and Gen were charter members of the Church of Corpus Christi. He was a member of the Bismarck Mandan Home Builders Association, Bismarck Elks, and Catholic Order of Foresters. Pete is survived by his sons, Keith, Bismarck; Bruce (Linda), Mandan; Randy (Cheri), Bismarck; Jeff (Gail), Eden Prairie, MN; and daughter Janean (Paul) Welk, Bismarck; eleven grandchildren, Justin (Melissa) Horner, Fargo; Leslie (Dustin) Hollevoet, Bismarck; Jesse (Brittney) Horner, Bismarck; Josh (Heather) Horner, Bismarck; Cassidy (Jessica) Horner, Bismarck; Crista (Tyler) Walz, Sartell, MN; Thomas (fiancé Morgan) Welk, Iowa City, IA; John Welk, Lincoln, NE; Jeffrey Welk, Bismarck; Alison Horner, Washington, D.C.; and Jenna Horner, Eden Prairie, MN; and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Gen, his wife of 64 years; his parents; infant son, Paul; great-grandson, Bentley Horner; brothers, Michael and Leo; and his sisters Maggie and Helen.
