Abby Hannesson

Abigayle “Abby” Marie Hannesson, 29, Bismarck, died Tuesday, July 25th, 2023.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, August 5, at New Life Church, 1320 Tacoma Ave, Bismarck. Family will begin greeting guests one hour prior to the service.

Abby was born December 11, 1993, to Brad and Tammy Hannesson in their cozy home in Minot, North Dakota. There she grew up alongside her favorite brother, Noah. She graduated from Our Redeemer’s Christian School in 2012 where she played volleyball and sang in the choir. As an adult, she worked many jobs, impacting the lives of so many along the way. She was currently a member of New Life Church in Bismarck.

In 2014, Abby became a mother to her beloved daughter, Ryleigh. The following year, she gave her a perfect little sister, Reese. Abby loved her girls more than anything, and enjoyed every moment she spent with them. She kept every photo, coloring, and note they made for her, and was so proud of their school accomplishments and hard work. Anyone who knew Abby knew that Ryleigh and Reese were the absolute light of her life, her greatest joy, her heart and soul.

Abby’s hobbies included cooking with her dad and brother, quoting their favorite movies together, and making their own inside jokes. In her spare time, you could find her watching Grey’s Anatomy, reading her Bible, or spending time with friends. If you ever met Abby, she likely gave you a fun nickname within minutes of meeting and made you feel right at home no matter where you were. Abby’s bubbly and infectious personality will be missed by us all, and her kind spirit will live on in us forever.

She was also very passionate about her recovery, and supporting others who struggled with addiction. Abby’s strength to overcome was inspiring to us all, and she will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew her. 

Her loving family includes: her beautiful daughters, Ryleigh Hess and Reese Hess; parents, Bradley Hannesson (Bismarck), Tammy Hannesson (Fargo); siblings, Noah Hannesson (Fargo), Chelsy Graves (Bismarck); nephew, Jackson; niece, Kodi; grandparents, Connie Hannesson (Crookston, MN), Boyde and Sally Galgerud (Omaha, NE) and Judy Koland (Minot) as well as many other aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by: her grandfathers, Lee Hannesson and Gerald Koland; great-grandmother, Thelma Huizenga; and cousin, Veronique Roll.
