Andrew Mark Werner, 71, Bismarck, ND, passed away on July 10th, 2025.
Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, July 18th at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service, with fellowship immediately following.
Andy Mark was born in Bismarck, North Dakota on October 24th, 1953, to Andrew M. Werner Sr. and Lorrece H. Werner (Usselman).
He attended grade school and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1972, and Bismarck Junior College (BJC) graduating with an Associates of Arts Degree.
After a train accident when he was 12 years old, his life took a different direction. Andy and his family are forever grateful to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for their care and generosity in providing artificial legs.
Andy Mark learned to play drums, and enjoyed swimming, auto racing, reading, writing letters, stamp collecting, Handicap Association, and competing on the Capital Wheelers basketball team. Faith was important to Andy, he attended St. Mary’s Church. He had a “keen” memory, and his siblings often deferred to him for facts and memories.
Andy Mark lived the “One Day at A Time” motto and found companionship as a sponsor, and belonging to AA & NA. Members were considered his extended family.
Andy Mark was a blessing to many and most generous in sharing what he had with others. He understood the humanitarian need to help others in their time of need, even if it was “just for today”.
We are thankful for Andy Mark’s friends, particularly Mort for his caring friendship. Our family and friends will miss Andy Mark. We are comforted knowing he’s in the arms of Jesus and dancing in heaven.
Andy Mark is survived by his siblings, Richard Werner (Karen), Karen Lee Werner (Jim Rivinius), Robert “Curly” Werner (Gisela Butler), LuAnne Johnson (Ted), and David Werner (Andrea); goddaughter, Kari Jo Doerksen (Gabe); along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heavens Helpers Soup Cafe with a note in memory of Andy Mark Werner.
