Obituary

Ardella Mae McCloud, 80, of Bismarck, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Following the burial the family invites you to join them for lunch, fellowship and a time to celebrate Ardella at Jacks Steakhouse, 1201 S 12th St., Bismarck.

Ardella was born on April 2, 1945, on a farm north of McClusky, North Dakota. She was raised there and attended school in the area, learning early the values of hard work, kindness, and strong family ties—qualities that remained with her throughout her life.

She was the proud mother of three sons. With her first husband, she welcomed sons Jeff and Kendall Zeeb. On July 25, 1980, she married Donald McCloud, and together they built a life centered on family and friendship. They made their home in Bismarck, where their son DJ McCloud was born. In 1983, the family moved to Beulah, North Dakota. During her years there, Ardella enjoyed selling Avon, which perfectly suited her outgoing nature and gave her the opportunity to visit with friends and make lasting connections. In 2011, she and Don returned to Bismarck, where they continued to enjoy time with family and friends.

Ardella truly loved being on the road—whether it was driving to visit friends and relatives or heading to another sporting event to cheer on her sons and grandsons. She was a devoted and enthusiastic supporter, rarely missing a game and always proud of her family’s accomplishments. Time spent together meant everything to her, and she created countless memories filled with laughter, conversation, and love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Katie and Jacob Grosz; her siblings, Mary (Martin) Hoffer, Alfred Grosz, Herbert Grosz, and Violet (Melvin) Jesz; her son, Jeff Zeeb; and her cherished dog, Karl.

Ardella leaves behind her loving husband, Don McCloud; her sons, Kendall Zeeb and DJ (Angie) McCloud; her grandsons, Josh and Parker Zeeb and Jase and Braxton McCloud; her sisters-in-law, Sharon Grosz and Helen Grosz; many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart along Ardella and Don’s dog, Maxx.
