Austin L. Power, 41, Bismarck, passed away on October 15, 2024 in Colorado.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Eastgate Funeral Service 2302 E. Divide Ave, Bismarck, ND.
Austin was born on May 9, 1983 in California, the son of August Power and Arlene Villafane. He was raised in Colorado by his mom and his step-dad, Norman Figueroa. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Colorado, where he also graduated with honors with a bachelor’s degree in Communications. Austin was very intelligent and from a young age liked to help others learn, whether it was helping kids read in grade school or as an adult translating for friends and family in one of the multiple languages he spoke. Austin was a great friend and loved helping others and especially enjoyed spending time with his children.
He worked as a general manager of a restaurant in Colorado for several years before moving to T-Mobile, where he quickly moved up in the ranks and was named associate manager. This started Austin’s connection with North Dakota, where he was sent to start the T-Mobile market in ND. It was through this job, he met a co-worker and his future wife, Lacey Baker. They were married on September 21, 2022 in Bismarck. Lacey’s son, Bentley took to Austin and really looked up to him as a father figure. Austin became part of Lacey’s family immediately, as his charismatic personality, along with his boisterous and infectious laugh was always present and will be missed by all who knew him.
When Austin wasn’t working, he was often playing video games. As an avid gamer with a heart for others, he was the “cool uncle” who was always willing to teach others to game also. He collected vintage video games and had quite the collection. Marvel movies were his favorite and he rarely missed seeing them at the theatre as soon as they were released. He also had a love for cars and enjoyed going to the cruise nights in Bismarck to admire the different cars. He loved listening to music, dancing, and watching his favorite football team play-“Go Raiders”. Austin was a huge “foodie”. He enjoyed trying new foods and cooking for others.
Austin’s big personality, his presence and his love for others will be forever missed.
He will be missed by his wife, Lacey and her son Bentley; children, Austin, Ailana, Josiah and Elijah, all of Colorado; parents, August Power, Arlene Villafane and Norman Figueroa, all of Colorado; brothers, Bryan (Macayla Reed) Figueroa and Jason Figueroa, all of Colorado; maternal grandmother of Puerto Rico; mother and father-in-law, Barb and Vince Poff, Bismarck; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tracey (Gilberto) Gamez, Bismarck, Candace Baker, Minneapolis and Robert Baker, Bismarck, along with several nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Velma Power-Skinner; one uncle and his best friend Tanya Brotsch.
