Bernard W. Falkenstein, 92, lifetime resident of Burleigh County, passed away on July 19, 2023.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Friday, July 21, 2023, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. A prayer service will follow at 7:00 PM.
Bernard Wesley Falkenstein was born March 29, 1931 to Wallace and Vera (Fricke) Falkenstein. He attended a one room country school, Ecklund #4, and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1949. He was married to Alice Vollan on June 17, 1951 at Sunne Lutheran Church. They farmed and ranched near Wilton for over 40 years and moved to Bismarck in 2008.
Bernard was always very involved and dedicated to his community and church. He was on township boards, local and state REC board, Burleigh County Township Assessor, local and county 4-H leader, Burleigh County Council of Aging. He was also Sunday school teacher and part of the Sunne Lutheran church council. His greatest legacy is his family.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Alice Falkenstein. Son, Dan (Jane) Falkenstein and his children Brent (Misty) Falkenstein and Laura (Jonathon Filter) Falkenstein. Son, Roger (Julie) Falkenstein and their children Angela (Ted) Harrington, Adam (Jolaina) Falkenstein, and Jennifer Falkenstein. Daughter, Maretta (Mark) Franklund and their children Bekki (Rick) Holzkamm, Keri (Jason) Youngstrand, Cami (Justin) Enney, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild expected in September 2023, Brother Wayne (Joyce) Falkenstein, Brother Larry (Betty) Falkenstein, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Wallace and Vera (Fricke) Falkenstein.
