Bernie was born in February 1955 in Hazen, ND to Leo and Loretta (Reiner) Mann. She was raised and attended school in Zap, ND, graduating in 1973.

Bernie married Fred Vollmuth on August 23rd, 2014, in Mandan. After her retirement, she spent her time traveling with Fred while he was working, including one year in Hawaii. When Fred retired, they spent more time traveling together and enjoying the simple things in life. Together, they enjoyed hosting family and friends, especially their grandkids. They enjoyed swimming with their grandkids and making memories together. Any time spent with family, regardless of what they were doing, was precious to her.

Her greatest joy in life was being present in the bleachers and cheering on her daughter during her sporting events which trickled down to her own grandchildren. She was their biggest fan, rarely missing a game.  As an excellent cook, she loved cooking German foods and sharing these meals with family and friends. She also enjoyed volunteering at Heaven’s Helpers Soup Café in Bismarck. We could rarely go anywhere in public without her knowing someone there. She knew everyone and befriended everyone. She will be sorely missed by all of those who knew her.

Bernie is survived by her loving husband of 9 ½ years, Fred Vollmuth, of Mandan; beloved golden retriever, Dakota; son, Ryan Runge, Bismarck; daughter, Allison (Vince) Goettle, Mandan; step-son, Derek Vollmuth, Mandan; step-daughter, Dana (Jason) Friedt of Beulah, ND; her nine loving grandchildren, Makenna, Madisyn and Mason Goettle; Briele and Jayden Vollmuth; Korbin and Adison Flynn; Rylee and Braylyn Vollmuth.

Bernie is also survived by her brother, Brad (Theresa Pavich) Mann, Grand Rapids, MN; two sisters, Barbara (Terry) Blinsky, Bismarck and Bonnie (Toby) Placek, Washburn; sister-in-law, Jalane Mann, Mandan; brothers-in-law, Richard Vollmuth, Hot Springs, SD; George (Margaret) Vollmuth, Fargo, ND; Nick (Debbie) Vollmuth, Selfridge, ND; Jerry (Deb) Vollmuth, Lakewood, CO; Jack (Jolene) Vollmuth, Conifer, CO; Pat (Lisa) Vollmuth of Cottage Grove, MN; Milt Mosset, Hot Springs, SD; one sister-in-law, Pam Vollmuth, Washburn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
