Cremation has taken place, and burial will follow the celebration at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.
Beverly was born on August 18, 1943, in Bowbells, North Dakota to Alfred and Mary (Martin) Jensen, and grew up on their farm. Bev went to college in Minot for her teaching degree. She married Lloyd Bird, and they lived in Williston, where she began her teaching career. They welcomed their daughters: Bramblee, Brenda, and Bridgett, and then moved to Powell, Wyoming and owned a shoe store. In 1978, Beverly and the girls moved to Bismarck. There, she earned her bachelor’s degree while working several jobs and raising the girls. She met and married Edwin Blumhagen and they enjoyed 36 years together until Ed’s death in 2018.
Known for her quick wit and generous heart, Beverly easily became everyone’s best friend. As a kindergarten and second grade teacher at Pioneer and Grimsrud, she filled her classrooms with energy, warmth, and creativity. She was also a dedicated volunteer through Trinity Lutheran Church, both with the Trinity Quilters and coordinating volunteers for The Banquet for many years. Bev enjoyed reading, playing cards, going to the casino, and having coffee time with friends. Her daughters were her greatest pride and joy. She and her grandkids loved hanging out together, joking around while playing pinochle and other games.
Beverly is survived by her daughters and their families, Bramblee (Bill Caughlan) Bird and daughters, Emma and Isabelle; Brenda (Erik) Berg and sons, Evan and Owen; Bridgett (Jon Graham) Bird and children, Deryn and James. She is also survived by her siblings, Helen (Edon) Nelson, Hazel (John) Haberlock, and Bill Jensen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bev was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Russell Jensen.
The family suggests any memorials be made out to Trinity Lutheran Church, directed to either the Trinity Quilters or the Loaves and Fishes ministry.
