Bonita Horn

Bonita Beverly Horn, 80, left her earthly home to be with Jesus on September 17, 2025.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 24 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. A Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be held at the Peace Cemetery, Dunn Center, North Dakota.

Bonnie was born on March 16, 1945, in Killdeer, ND, to Jake and Edna (Kilber) Unterseher. Her family moved to a farm near Hazen, ND, in 1949, and later relocated to a farm near Beulah, ND, in 1955.

She graduated from Beulah High School in 1963 and from Wahpeton School of Nursing in 1966. Bonnie and her friend Linda McBride moved to Longmont, Colorado, to begin their nursing careers. She worked at Longmont United Hospital for 32 years, many of those as a surgical nurse, and retired from nursing in 1998.

Bonnie married David Horn on June 30, 1967. They lived in the Longmont area throughout their entire married life. Their fifty-four wonderful years together were filled with shared passions—restoring antique cars, camping, and fishing in the Colorado mountains. Bonnie also enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, canning, and raising chickens.

After David’s passing, Bonnie returned to North Dakota in 2024 to be closer to her family.

Bonnie was a caring, kind, and loving person. She devoted herself to caring for Dave during his health challenges and was a thoughtful presence in the lives of her nieces and nephews—remembering birthdays and offering support whenever needed. Her laughter was contagious and lifted the spirits of those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Bonnie is survived by her stepson, Michael Horn; sisters, Marlene Buehner and Luella Kroh; brother, Arvid (Ginny) Unterseher; sisters-in-law, Cary Unterseher and Connie Unterseher; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brothers, Allan Unterseher and Marvin Unterseher.
