She spent her childhood years in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and graduated from Liberty High School in 1963. She graduated from Penn State University in 1967 with a degree in medical technology. There she met the love of her life, Paul Diehl, on a blind date. They married on April 1, 1967, one week after graduation.

Brenda and Paul spent the next four years in the Air Force, residing in Cheyenne, Wyoming and Cape Kennedy, Florida. They eventually moved to Oklahoma City and Norman, Oklahoma. In OKC, Brenda completed her internship in Med Tech at Mercy Health Center. She was employed there in the laboratory until 1984 when they moved to Norman. She began working at Norman Regional Hospital until moving to Bismarck in 1992. She spent 13 years at St. Alexius before “retiring” in 2005. Brenda was then employed at Coldwater Creek and Chicos as a sales associate for the next 12 years. She volunteered at the Bismarck Emergency Food Pantry since her retirement in 2005.

She enjoyed many hobbies and leisure activities, including tennis, archery, creating and stamping greeting cards, playing bridge, pinochle, and canasta. She most of all loved bowling. She competed in USBC National Tournaments for 26 years. Brenda was inducted into the Bismarck-Mandan Bowling Hall of Fame in 2014. She loved following PBR Bull Riding and attended the events with her husband Paul, friends Kevin and Linda, and her two grandchildren, Blake and Erin. Brenda was an avid country music fan and attended WeFest and country music concerts for years.

Brenda was a member of Chapter F P.E.O, Bis-Man Newcomers Club, and McCabe United Methodist Church.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Paul; sons, Greg (Debbie) and Matt (Kristine); grandchildren, Blake and Erin; and brother, Robert (Kathy) Nauman.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Bismarck Emergency Food Pantry or the Central Dakota Humane Society.
