Brian Chaska, 53, passed away on April 1, 2026, in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Brian was born on April 3, 1972, in Dickinson, North Dakota, to Mary Ann and Mitch Chaska. He was raised alongside his sister, Leslie. He graduated from high school in 1990 and went on to attend Dickinson State College before eventually making his home in Bismarck. There, he became a proud father to his daughters, Marlee and Emalee, and was previously married to Melanie Kitzan.
From a young age, Brian had a deep passion for cars. He spent countless hours in the garage, first helping his dad as soon as he was old enough to hold a wrench. Over the years, he worked for several companies, including Capital RV and US Food Service. While working there, he met Amanda in 2001, and the two were married in 2012. Through this union, Brian gained two bonus children, Tristan and Paige.
Brian dedicated many years to the automotive industry before opening his own business, Chaska’s Classics, in 2012. He became well known for his craftsmanship and knowledge, selling cars to people around the world. He especially enjoyed working on his 1932 Ford sedan—a project that reflected both his skill and dedication, and one that was nearly complete.
Known as a wealth of knowledge, Brian had a knack for fixing just about anything. Many affectionately called him “Little MacGyver,” whether he was repairing cars or helping others solve problems. He was never short on words and had a deep love for people, often trying to help mend not only things, but hearts as well. He had quite a sense of humor and he could always light up a room. He will truly be missed.
Brian loved fishing and cherished his role as a grandfather to his three grandsons. He also enjoyed sharing his passion for cars with his stepchildren, who developed an appreciation for the hobby alongside him. He was a proud member of the NDSRA.
Brian is survived by his wife, Amanda; his daughters, Marlee (Jordan Oster) Chaska of Bismarck and Emalee (Brennen) Kuntz of Bismarck; his stepchildren, Tristan Schumacher and Paige Schumacher; and his grandchildren, Frankie, Tysen, and Ezra. He is also survived by his parents, Mary Ann and Mitch Chaska of Dickinson; his sister, Leslie (Dave) Wilkie; his nephews, Ethan Wilkie and Evan (Lacey) Wilkie and their son, Thomas; and his in-law's, Teri and Galen Halverson of Bismarck. He shared a special bond with his cousin, Blaine (Mariah) Hassebrock, and his aunts, Jolynn (Lee) Magstadt and Peg (Mick) Ehresman, along with many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Sue Thomas, and Mitchell and Eleanor Chaska; and his aunt, Joyce Olson.
