Bruce Ray Cederstrom of Bismarck was born on February 16, 1942, to Gilbert and Elsie (Olson) Cederstrom. Bruce was raised in Bismarck, went to Richolt grade school in Bismarck, Bismarck Junior High and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1960. After graduation, he joined the US Navy. He married Jeanine LaLonde on November 14, 1964, and they lived in Goodyear, AZ and San Diego, CA while in the navy. He served on the USS Kitty Hawk and USS Constellation, both aircraft carriers in the Tonkin Gulf. He was honorably discharged in 1968. He earned many awards during his military career. While he was in the navy, three sons were born in 1967, 1969 and 1970. They returned to live in Bismarck, ND in 1972 where a 4th son was born in 1975. He went to work for the city of Bismarck in the first crash fire rescue at the airport. He joined the National Guard in 1976 as a full-time technician at the Army Aviation Support Facility until 2002. After being discharged from the Guard, he went to work for Bismarck Airport in the Maintenance Department. Raising four boys, he spent many hours watching their sports. Years later, “Grandpa’s Girls” started arriving and became his pride and joy. He loved those five girls so very much. He enjoyed going for a few “bumps” with his Vietnam Veteran buddies. He was known for his one-liners and fun-loving personality. He sure made a lot of people smile and could talk to anyone. He passed his wit and all his goofy sayings on to his sons and granddaughters.
