Bryan Donald Gertz, 63, passed away peacefully at his home in Washburn on September 20th, 2023. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, September 26 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 801 E. Denver Ave, Bismarck.

Interment will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, September 26 at The North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Bryan was born on December 17th, 1959 to Marvin and Ruth (Teske) Gertz at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck. He was raised in Steele, ND where he attended school prior to joining the US Army. After the Army, Bryan attended Bismarck Junior College where he obtained his degree for Welding.

Bryan was known as “Stumpy” by many of his friends, this was a nickname he gained after his accident in September 1993 that occurred while working for the Grain Elevator.

He found and married his soul mate Wanda on April 16th, 2004. Bryan had dedicated his life to his family. Together they raised seven children and watched many of their grandchildren grow.

You could often find Bryan spending his days riding his Harley alongside Wanda and anyone who was willing to ride along. He loved to tinker with mechanical things like cars, trucks, and his beloved Harleys. He enjoyed car shows and admiring classic cars at events like Buggies and Blues in Mandan. He especially loved to watch all of the news stations and staying caught up on the latest gossip, especially about Donald Trump.

Bryan always made sure his family knew he was proud and loved each and every one of them.

So, in honor of Dad/Papa: “Come on over here and get a Rat Tail Nip, Nose Clip, Round the Head Zip, or a Good Ole Petey Clamp! But don’t forget it’s almost time for “Schoollyyy Olleyy, here comes the Bussy Wussy! Ok gotta go now, bye, CLICK!!!”

Bryan is joined in Heaven with wife, Wanda Gertz; parents, Marvin and Ruth and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by children, Jessica (Joda) Delkamp, Bismarck, Tammy Peirce, Mandan, Travis Stevens, Bismarck, Katie (Eric) Oelschlager, Mandan, Christian (Shanwia) Gertz, Lincoln, Kristi (Casey) Brewer, Washburn, Austin Peterson, Mandan; grandchildren, Dylan Costner, Lathan Peirce, Jayden Peirce, Sakari Gertz, Trae Gertz, Rhilynn Oelschlager, Angel Brewer, Ayden Gertz, Hazelle Oelschlager, Dante Brewer, Rowan Oelschlager; brother; Joseph Gertz, Hawaii; and fur babies:  Keisha, Toby, Baby, and Lily “Kitty.”
