Carol Jean Haadem, 79, Bismarck, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 10, 2026. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 18 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 1615 N 18th St, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at Eastgate Funeral Service, 3117 E Century Ave, Bismarck.

Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Carol was born on December 25, 1946 to Paul and Pearl (Gullickson) Flowers in Center. Carol attended Bismarck Junior College and received a secretarial degree.

While at a dance in Bismarck, she met the love of her life, ElRoy Haadem. They were married on May 7, 1971 and moved to Carrington where they welcomed their first child, Throy. ElRoy’s career prompted a move to Bismarck, where their children Jerad and Kristen were born and raised.

Carol stayed at home with her children while they were growing up. As her kids went to school, she was employed with the Bismarck Tax Department. Later she worked as a receptionist at Northridge Elementary School for Bismarck Public Schools.

In her spare time, she enjoyed the outdoors. She especially loved tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She spent many hours tending to her yard, and was looking forward to mowing season! She was a talented seamstress and quilter, and made baby blankets and gifts to give to her grandchildren. Carol served as a 4-H leader, was a member of a quilting and Homemaker’s Club.

As much as Carol enjoyed her hobbies, spending time with her family was most important to her. Carol’s grandchildren were a big part of her life. Her and ElRoy made it a priority to attend their grandchildren’s sporting events and activities as much as possible. Her children knew that they could count on her to always be there for them.

Carol was active in her faith and was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Throughout life’s blessings and challenges, her faith was the foundation of it all.

Carol is survived by her children, Throy (Kristi) Haadem, Jerad (Heather) Haadem, and Kristen (Tyrone) Klein; six grandchildren, Jalin (Jazmine), Noah, Brennen, Quinn, Kallie, and Kasen; and sister, Margret Heinz; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, ElRoy Haadem; her parents; brother, Doug Flowers; and brother-in-law, Wayne Heinz.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Salvation Army or the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
