Carolyn Bernice Wegerle, 80, went to Heaven on September 10, 2025.

Carolyn has chosen to donate her body for science to the University of North Dakota School of Medicine. Therefore, there will be no formal funeral service, but instead a celebration of Carolyn's life will be held on September 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Home in Bismarck, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Carolyn was born on February 17, 1945, in Kulm, ND, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Esther (Heine) Buchholz. Carolyn was raised in Kulm, attending primary school there before moving with her family to Hazen, ND, where she completed her secondary education. She graduated from Hazen High School in 1963, proudly serving as the homecoming queen. After high school, Carolyn attended Minot State University, obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Education in 1967.

Shortly thereafter, she married Larry Wegerle, with whom she moved to Bismarck, where she began her career as an educator. Carolyn dedicated herself to teaching and coaching sports at Bismarck High School. In 1969, she became a mother to her first child, John Eric Wegerle. The family later relocated to Hazen to pursue farming, welcoming their daughter, Nancy Marie Wegerle, in 1977. The Wegerle family returned to Bismarck in 1983, and Carolyn began her tenure as a Program Coordinator with Enable, Inc., where she served with dedication for 25 years until her retirement in 2014 at the age of 69. In retirement, Carolyn cherished quality time with friends, indulged in her love of reading, and embraced opportunities for travel and community involvement through her church.

Carolyn is survived by her children, John (Linda) Wegerle, Wilton, ND and Nancy (Darrell) Hejde, Key Largo, FL. She is also survived by her sisters, Kathy (Roy) Thomson, London, England and Jan (Wayne) Kindem, Sun City, AZ, as well as three grandchildren: Audrey Wegerle Lazzarini and Brandi Wegerle both of Great Falls, MT, and Joe Moulton of Denver, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Esther Buchholz.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Association in memory of Carolyn, or to the donor’s choice.
