Cecelia was born February 23, 1939, in Schefield, ND, to John and Cecelia (Huschka) Wandler. She was named after her mother, who died giving birth to her. Whitey grew up in Dickinson and graduated from Dickinson Central High School in 1959. She married Larry Barth on July 15, 1961. They moved to Hebron, ND, where they spent 30 years. Whitey was very active in the community as a volunteer for numerous organizations and St. Anne’s Catholic Church. She loved little children and did daycare for many years. Whitey’s greatest joy was her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the love of her life. Whitey and Larry loved traveling with family and friends, and after 30 years of marriage, Larry passed away at age 53.

Whitey met and married Richard Koppinger on October 16, 1999. They were members of St. Patrick’s Parish in Dickinson, where they enjoyed being on the Social Activities Committee together. They enjoyed spending time with family and friends and traveled to Rome with St. Patrick’s Parish, which was a highlight in their lives. After Richard passed away, Whitey moved to Bismarck to be closer to her son, Randy, who was battling Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. Randy passed away in February 2026.

Whitey is survived by her two daughters, Della (Tom) Messer, Riverdale, ND, and Kim (Jayme) Glasser, Bismarck; her grandchildren, Kayla (Austin) Porter, Nicole (Tyler) Heins, Lynae (Joe) Hallock, Krista (Tate) Olson, Kierra, Isaac and Macy Barth; fourteen great-grandchildren; and former daughter-in-law, Steph (Chris) Sievert. Her stepsons, Jerry (Jeanne), Gene (LeeAnn), Rob (Mary) and Ken (DeeDee) Koppinger; stepdaughters, Lori Koppinger, Sandy Steckler and Donna Rohr; and many step-grandchildren and great-step-grandchildren. Her sisters, Susie (Kel) Splichal and Bev Mahto.

She was preceded in death by both her husbands, Larry Barth and Richard Koppinger; her son, Randy Barth; parents, John and Cecelia Wandler; stepmother, Elizabeth Wandler; brother, Jimmy Wandler; sisters, Arilda (Bob) McMillan and Rita (Arnie) Reisenauer; and a great-grandson, Jonathon Porter.

The family would like to thank St. Gabriel’s Community and Caring Edge Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion they gave our mom and grandma.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to be given to Ascension Catholic Church Renovation Project, 1825 S. 3rd St., Bismarck.
