Obituary

Cecilia “Cil” Schumacher, 78, Bismarck, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 24, 2018, at Elm Crest Manor, New Salem, ND.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am Saturday, December 29, at Church of Corpus Christi, 1919 N 2nd St., Bismarck, with Rev. Paul Becker officiating.

Burial is at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Friday, December 28, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Cil was born April 27, 1940, in Temvik, ND, the daughter of Clemens and Margeret Bosch. She grew up on a family farm outside of Linton. Cil married Charles M. Holzer Sr., on September 9, 1959, and moved to Bismarck. The couple had three children, Karen, Sharon, and Charles Jr. She worked at the Capitol Cafeteria, Eagles, and as head cook at the Bismarck Elks Lodge. After retiring from the Elks, Cil worked part-time in the cafeteria at Simle Middle School.

Cil married Mike Schumacher on August 30, 1978, which added four step-children to her family, Gary, Kathy, Brenda, and Wade.

Cil had many interests including crocheting, knitting, reading, baking, and golfing. She was a kid at heart and especially enjoyed time with her many grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed by her three children, Karen (Sean) Flaherty, Maple Grove, MN, Sharon (Greg) Morrell, Mandan, ND, and Chuck (Bernie) Holzer, Bismarck, ND; four step-children, Gary Schumacher, PA, Kathy (Karlis) Heiser, Bismarck, ND, Brenda Rogerson, Fargo, ND, and Wade (JoLynn) Schumacher, Forest Lake, MN; her grandchildren; her siblings, Simon (Kathryn) Bosch, William (Janet) Bosch, Leo (Anne) Bosch, Alois Bosch, Alvina (Arley) Schwindt, Rose Ostoj, Frances Nelson, and Mary Larson.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Holzer; her second husband, Mike Schumacher; her brothers, George and John; her sister, Ann Balanga; and her parents.
