Cheryl Hayes

Cheryl Hayes, 65, West Fargo, passed away on December 24, 2024.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, January 3 at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave, Bismarck.

Cheryl Lynn Hayes (nee O'Shaughnessy) was born on Feb. 01 1959, in Grand Forks, ND to Robert and Sheila O'Shaughnessy. She was raised in Grand Forks, and married Robert John Hayes on April 28, 1979 in Grand Forks. Shortly after they moved to Hazen, ND. Cheryl gave birth to a daughter named Stephanie on Jan. 6, 1981. Unfortunately, Stephanie passed away that same day due to complications. They had two more children, daughter, Kristin Lea, born July 1982, and son, Allan Robert, born Jan. 1984. 

In Aug. 1987 the family relocated to Brooklyn Park, MN. For over 35 years Cheryl resided in other suburbs of the Minneapolis area. She welcomed her first and only grandchild, Kyran Russell Allan, born on April 2012, where she quoted that he was the "Apple of her Eyes" from day one. 

On October 4, 2017, her husband Robert passed away due to liver cancer, after over 38 years of marriage. In June of 2022, she relocated to West Fargo, ND, where she resided until her passing.

Cheryl is survived by parents, Robert and Sheila O'Shaughnessy of Bismarck, ND; daughter, Kristin (Askari) of Minneapolis, MN; son Allan (Shawn) of Westminster, CA; grandson, Kyran Ross; sister Carrie (Jeff) Wilson of Grand Forks, ND; brother, Shawn (Louise) of St. George, UT and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. 

She was preceded in death by husband, Robert; daughter, Stephanie; granddaughter, Adriana; father and mother-in-law, Russell and Mary Jo Hayes; niece, Kayla O'Shaughnessy; brother-in-law, Roy Hayes, and other relatives including grandparents, uncles, and aunts. 

She left a legacy compassion, kindness, stories and memories by everyone she knew and loved.
