Cheryl K. Kunda was born July 7, 1957, in Bottineau, ND, on her mama’s birthday! She was welcomed home by her dad and four older brothers to the big farm way of life. Five years later, she gladly welcomed her baby sister, Julie. Her family grew up working and playing hard together. There was never a dull moment at home or with all the cousins.

Cheryl knew from an early age that she wanted to teach and enrich the lives of young people. Her career in education spanned over 30+ years! She worked hard to obtain her Master of Education degree. While Cheryl taught many ages at the elementary level, her favorite was reading.

Cheryl raised her family and participated in many community groups and church activities along the way. She was blessed beyond measure to have a supporting family and circle of friends! The dash between 1957-2026 was filled with travel to Boston, Las Vegas, San Antonio, Alaska and Hawaii, to name just a few... In addition, there were the small trips to the Black Hills, Medora Badlands and Rochester, Minnesota, that brought the family closer to the homeland beauty as they camped, visited and celebrated. She and her husband Ron had many adventures, sometimes through his work or school, but many were fun trips.

Speaking of husband, she was so proud of his accomplishments and work ethic. Cheryl was loved and cared for by her faithful husband, Ron, and her trusty little furry friend, Lucy. She was ever so grateful for their love.

She is survived by her husband Ronald, daughter Kimberly Decker, and granddaughter Anna Duhon, who all gave her such pride in their accomplishments. Cheryl is also survived by best and forever friend and sister Julie (Roger) Knutson; their son Ryan (Jenna), and their children Kalli and Sutton. They were her special lake buddies. She is also survived by her brothers and their children: Larry (Mary), nephew Chad and niece Kristy Walker and their families; Bruce (Shelley deceased), nieces Brook Soderstrum and Codi Rybchinski and nephew Stuart and their families; John (Tina) and nephews Matthew, Ben, Jacob, and their families; and sister-in-law Linda (Garry deceased), nephew Shawn and niece Dawn Nudell and their families. She is also survived by Ron’s family Della (Rich) Copp; Ken (Annette) Kunda, and Laura (Chuck) Jensen and their families. What a joy to have been loved and blessed by these families. She is also survived by her four special friends Zelda, Cindy, Allison and Phyllis, who frequently checked on her. Their love and support were greatly appreciated. In addition, she had a great community of friends, too numerous to mention that were a big part of her life.

Cheryl is being welcomed home by so many, there will be a celebration with love and Jesus in heaven for sure! Cheryl would like to acknowledge the great love and gift of life to those who preceded her in death: her parents Marvin and Marge Bullinger, in-laws Dominic and Mary Kunda, her two precious sons Marc and Aaron and her brother Garry along with a host of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Cheryl requested that memorials be made to one of the following charities, at your choosing: a local animal rescue, a local veterans organization, Bismarck Cancer Center, Roger Maris Cancer Center, a local library, or cancer research.

“I am beginning to learn that it is the sweetest and simple things of life which are the real ones after all.” – Laura Ingalls Wilder
