Obituary

Clarence Bernell "Ike" Aichele, 95, Bismarck, passed away November 3, 2025.

A funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, November 13 at McCabe United Methodist Church, 1030 N 6th St, Bismarck. Visitation will be held one hour prior. A livestream to Clarence's service will be available here.

Burial will be held at Driscoll Cemetery, Driscoll, ND.

C. Bernell “Ike” Aichele was born at Tuttle, ND on April 20, 1930 (Easter Sunday). He was the eldest son born to Fred W. & Tillie Auch Aichele and was followed by birth of 4 brothers and 2 sisters. He began his grade school education at Tuttle but finished at Thelma Township south of Driscoll, ND where the family moved when he was 10 yrs. old. He graduated Driscoll High School and attended two summers of College at Valley City Normal earning a Teachers Certificate. He then taught rural schools in Burleigh and Kidder Counties for 5 years.

He began employment with Sherwin Williams Co. in 1954 which resulted in a 27 year career taking him and his family to Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. He returned to North Dakota in 1983 and worked with brother Floyd for a period followed by 12 years in Financial Services with Waddell & Reed retiring in December 2002. He was always active in his church where ever he was located.

He was married to Evelyn McNeil at Valley City Methodist on May 5, 1957, a marriage that exceeded 50 years ending with Evelyn’s death on April 6, 2010. They had 2 children who attended different schools and began their lifes living and working in different states.

Upon returning to North Dakota Ike and Evelyn became members of McCabe United Methodist Church serving in various capacities and committees including the Chancel Choir. Ike was active for several years at Buckstop Junction and served as a Board Member, was a member of the Senior Center Singers and a Board Member of the McCabe United Methodist Foundation & Volunteer Caregivers for the elderly as well as a past member of Eagles and Elks.

He leaves behind his son David of Pine, Colorado, daughter Denise and son-in law Michael Hamilton and grandson Lucas of Yarmouth, Maine as well as his special friend of many years, Mary Ann Eisenbarth. He leaves brother Lee, sister Shirley and husband Ron Hankel and sisters-in-law Jo Ellen and Jean. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by father Fred, mother Tillie, brothers Glen, Leroy, Floyd and his wife Beverly, sister Luella and her husband Benny Rath as well as brother-in-law Jerry Buck.

Memorials may be made to an entity of your choice, The Driscoll Cemetery, and the McCabe United Methodist Church Foundation.
