Colleen Roberts

Colleen Roberts, 79, Bismarck, passed away at her home on June 18, 2023. A memorial service will be held 12 p.m. Friday, June 23 at Lord of Life, 1143 N 26^th St, Bismarck. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the church. A livestream will be available through the church's website, listed here.

Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.

Colleen was born on August 1, 1943 to Esther (Stengel) and Luke Heeren in Canton, South Dakota. She was raised and educated in Canton, graduating from Canton High School in 1961. As a young woman, she owned various businesses, including C+K Pet Shop with her husband, Ken. She began her employment with U.S. West Telephone Company as an Account Manager for the State of North Dakota until her retirement in 1999.

In 1960, Colleen married Kenneth Roberts in Canton, S.D. Together, they moved to Bismarck in 1962.

In her later years, Colleen kept busy with various hobbies. She enjoyed a 10-year employment with Bismarck Public Schools as a bus monitor and helping in the kitchen at Century High School. Colleen volunteered and was a 25-year member with the Bismarck Eagles Club. She devoted her time and felt at-peace serving others at Lord of Life Church as an Altar Guild member. In addition to her service at the church, she was an avid sewer and quilter, with much of her work being gifted to the church, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Colleen balanced many hobbies, but her #1 hobby was her love of horses. She cared for them deeply and enjoyed riding and competing.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Colleen is survived by her sons, Mitch, Mark (Amy), and Tim (Tracy); Ten Grandchildren/Honorary Pallbearers, Crystal, Hunter, Joshua, Elora, Jeremy, Luke, Jake, Ashlee, Lexie and Cadel; Great-Grandchildren, Asher, Isabella, Oliver, Reilly, Abby, Jackson, Jeremiah, James, Kelly, Aidan, Everly, Kennith, and Karson; and sister, Penny (Alan) Thorson.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Ken; her parents, Luke and Esther Heeren; and her nephew, Jeff Thorson.
