Daniel Kinsella

January 11, 1951 — April 13, 2025

Daniel James Kinsella was born to Bonnee (Heller) and Joseph Kinsella in Rapid City, SD, on January 11, 1951. He passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025, in Bismarck, ND, at age 74.

A private ceremony with family and close friends will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Rapid City, SD.

Dan attended school in Rapid City, graduating from Central High School in 1970. He graduated from Black Hills State University in 1986 with a major in History.

Dan married Jamie Samuelsen on June 14, 1980, in Rapid City, SD. From this union came a daughter and a son. Family was everything to Dan, possibly due to his Irish heritage. He worked hard to provide for and support his family.

Dan was the proudest of his career spent in pharmaceutical sales. He enjoyed educating medical professionals and was quite successful, having won The Circle of Excellence Award, plus earning trips for both himself and Jamie, to New Orleans, West Palm Beach, and Aruba.

Dan’s favorite pastimes were following his children’s sports as they grew up; his most favorite were the years he spent coaching and supporting their hockey teams. Dan was also passionate about camping, fishing, hunting, telling stories around the campfire, and spending time with family and friends. Dan loved to travel, visiting places throughout the country and the world.

The highlight of Dan’s life was his Irish heritage. He was able to celebrate his heritage by taking a trip to Ireland in 1995 with his family (wife Jamie, mother, Bonnee, sister Kay, brother Tom & his family). He travelled again to Ireland in 2014 with his brothers Tom and Jim to honor their mother, Bonnee, after her passing. He loved exploring his heritage by finding and connecting with distant relatives in Ireland, and he enjoyed listening to traditional Irish music, and of course, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.

Dan is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jamie, his children, Kaitlin and Brian Kinsella, and his granddaughters Keira-Kay, Ava-Mae and Luna-Rae Kinsella. He is also survived by his siblings, Ann (Jim) Van Loan, Colleen Kinsella, Jim Kinsella, sister-in-law, Kathy Kinsella, and brother-in-law, Frank Commerford, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnee and Joe, his older brother Tom, his older sister Kay Commerford, and nephew Michael Kinsella.

May you rest in peace, Dan

IRISH REMEMBRANCE

May your heart

Hold happy memories.

May they warm you

like the sun.

May you feel my peace

like the solace

of the mountains,

and know my soul

was welcomed home.

May you remember me

under the starry night sky,

and end each day happy

I was in your life.
