IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darlene
Walsh
February 7, 1956 – November 6, 2025
Darlene Kay Walsh, 69, Bismarck, passed away peacefully at Sanford Medical Center surrounded by family and friends on November 6, 2025.
She was born on February 7, 1956, in Garrison, to Alfred (Shorty) and Rose Krueger, the youngest of 14 children. As a young girl, Darlene attended White Shield School through the sixth grade. The family later moved to Garrison, where she attended high school and graduated with the Class of 1974.
On June 27, 1975, Darlene married Dale Walsh from Garrison. The couple made their home in Bismarck, where she worked for the State of North Dakota and held various other jobs, including starting her home based business, “Walsh Home Gallery.” On February 7, 1979, they moved to Washburn to raise their family.
Darlene was an active member of the Jayceettes and served in several leadership roles, including president. She was also a devoted Christian and longtime member of the Washburn Methodist Church, taught Sunday School and led the youth group for several years. After 17 years in Washburn, the family returned to Bismarck where she became a longtime member of McCabe Methodist Church.
Darlene was known for her quick wit and infectious laughter—her one-liners could make anyone smile. She cherished her family above all else and found great joy in camping, fishing, and traveling throughout her life.
Darlene is survived by her loving husband, Dale; their children, Preston (Kelly) Walsh, Lindsey (Justin) Cathcart, and Justin (Chelsey) Walsh; her sisters, Alvina Marquez, Lavonne Hauser, Caroline Deegan, Ardis Krueger, LaRae Nicolay, and Betty Krueger; her brothers-in-law, Duane (Dianne) Walsh, and David Walsh; her sister-in-law, Colleen Walsh; and nine beloved grandchildren—Masen, Maverick, Ethan, Nova, Ella, Blake, Tenley, Thea, and Jack. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Alfred (Shorty) Krueger; her brothers, Milford, Bert, Alfred Jr. (Junior), Ernest (Ernie), and Richard; her sisters, Ida Mae Kovarik and Diane Fast.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 22 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. Family will greet guests one hour prior.
