David Rask, 92, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026.

David was born on December 11, 1933, in Rochester, Minnesota. He graduated from Rochester High School and went on to earn his degree from the University of Minnesota. A dedicated civil engineer, David spent 32 years working for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) before retiring.

David married the love of his life, Helen, in Rochester on September 15, 1957. In the fall of 1971, David and Helen moved to Bismarck, North Dakota, where they made their home. Together, they built a life and family filled with memories and shared experiences.

Outside of his professional career, David enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially fishing, woodworking, gardening, and completing projects around the house. These hobbies reflected his appreciation for the outdoors and his enjoyment of working with his hands. David’s interests were going to the movies, watching sports, keeping up with politics, and dining out. Above all, he treasured spending time with his family, creating memories and enjoying the moments they shared together.

David is survived by his son, Rick (Paula); grandson, Matt; granddaughters, Laryssa and Wylie; grandson, Trevor; and seven great-grandchildren, son-in-law, Shane Fladeland who carry on his family legacy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Helen; his daughter, Julie; and his grandson, Tayler.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to iPaw Rescue, an organization dedicated to saving dogs.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Eastgate Funeral Home, 3117 E Century Avenue in Bismarck. Following the memorial, interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery.
