Debra
Geisen
Jun 2, 1952 — Jul 5, 2026
Debra Geisen passed away peacefully in Bismarck, ND, on July 5th, 2026 at the age of 74.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 31 at 11 AM at House of Prayer, 1470 South Washington, Bismarck, with a meal to follow. A visitation will be held one prior to the memorial service.
Deb was born June 2, 1952, in Langdon, North Dakota, to Alvin and Elaine Sundberg. Debra grew up in Nekoma, North Dakota, along with her four siblings. She graduated from Nekoma High School in 1970, and she went on to complete one year of administrative training at Devils Lake Region College. She went to work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1971 on the Safeguard Antiballistic Project. This is where she met her future husband, Al Geisen, whom she married in 1972.
Deb was not blessed with children, but she loved the three Labrador Retrievers that she and Al raised. Deb used to say, “If people were more like labs, what a better place this world would be.”
Deb always had a soft spot in her heart for children and disadvantaged people. During her summer months while in high school, she volunteered at the Grafton State School for the Handicapped. Deb went back to school in 1988 and graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education. She went on to form her own business, Tutoring Plus, which focused on children with learning disabilities. In addition, she served as a Sunday school teacher and as a choir member in several congregations.
She is survived by her husband, Al Geisen, Bismarck, ND; her brother, Richard Sundberg, Harwood, ND; her brother, Michael Sundberg, Grand Forks, ND; her sister, Sharon (Sundberg) French, Minneapolis, MN; and her sister, Pamela (Sundberg) Sponsler, Chico, California.
