Delores Huisman passed peacefully on the evening of May 28, 2026, surrounded by her angel family. She left her earthly home quietly and with dignity, only to be met by her Father in Heaven, escorted by the loving members of her family that preceded her.

Delores Senn was born February 12, 1930, on the family farm NE of Mott, ND, to Valentine and Emelia (Steiner) Senn. She was the fourth of nine surviving children in the family. Delores attended country school, boarding school, and finally Mott Lincoln High School, where she earned her high school degree. Following graduation, she moved into town and worked a variety of jobs including clothing and dress shops, general mercantile, and cafe and restaurant businesses. It was in the Pheasant Cafe that she met and fell for her husband of 40 years.

Delores married Maynard Huisman at St. Vincents Catholic Church on November 24, 1954. She followed Maynard’s active career in Teaching and Coaching from Arthur, ND, back to Mott, ND, for five years, then finally settling in Bismarck, ND, where they raised their six children. Born to Maynard and Delores were Mark James, Cynthia Marie, Sandra Ann, Susan Kay, Bryan William, and Dwight William.

Mom filled her days with endless activities that involved managing their young family and homemaking. She was an excellent cook and provided daily home-cooked meals for her family and visiting guests. She was active in school events, shuffling homeroom requests, serving on PTA committees, and driving for field trips. She worked as a seamstress for 10 years with the annual arrival of Holiday On Ice, altering and fitting costumes for performers. She remained ever active in her beloved home parish of St. Anne’s Catholic Church, doing volunteer work in the office, joining Circle and service groups, serving funerals, and helping to organize, sew, and bake for the Annual Parish Gift Fair. In retirement years, she remained active as an Auxiliary volunteer at St. Alexius Hospital and driving for Meals on Wheels.

Left with loving memories are her children, Mark (Kem), Cindy (Leon), Sandy, Susan (Marlyn), Bryan (Nadine), 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, brother Pat, and many loved and cherished nieces and nephews.

Delores is preceded in death by her parents, husband Maynard, son Dwight, siblings Lee, Rose, Veronica, Dorothy, Roy, Bertha, Mildred, and 3 infants.

Near and dear to Mom and Dad’s heart was Camp ReCreation, originally created at the Richardton Abby in Richardton, ND. This camp was attended for many years by their deceased son Dwight. Memorials can be made to Camp ReCreation, PO Box 26, Richardton, ND 58652, phone 701-974-3774.
