Deloris Alvina (Vossler) Dockter, 88, Bismarck, passed away on February 6, 2023, at Sanford Hospital after a short battle with cancer.
A funeral service will be held 11:30 AM, Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Bismarck Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1109 N 26th St, Bismarck. After the service the family invites you to join them for fellowship and refreshments at the church.
Visitation will be held 5-7:00 PM, Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck.
Burial will be held 3:00 PM, Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Deloris was born on May 18, 1934, on a farm south of Mercer to Edward and Susanna (Wall) Vossler where she was raised and attended country school until eighth grade. She married Reuben R. Dockter on July 2, 1953. They lived on a small farmstead south of McClusky until moving to Bismarck in 1956, where they raised their two children.
Deloris worked as a nurse’s aide at Bismarck Hospital. She also helped Reuben with his construction business doing the staining and painting of the houses he built. She used her spare time to teach ceramic classes in her basement for 10 years until moving north of town where she had a ceramic shop until 1991. After selling her shop, Deloris worked at Missouri Slope Lutheran Home.
She was a lifelong member of the Bismarck Seventh-Day Adventist church. Deloris taught children’s Sabbath School for many years and believed in the Resurrection. She plans to meet her family and friends in the New Earth.
Deloris is survived by her husband, Reuben R. Dockter; son, Leslie (Toni) Dockter, McGregor, Texas; daughter, Bonnie (Mark) Sundby, Bismarck; grandson, Shane Dockter, Bismarck; step-grandchildren, Raymond Hewett, Oregon, and Julie Nelson and Jason Parry, California; 12 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Darlene (Willie) Kostenko and Jeannie (Loren) Soule; and sisters-in-law, Aletha Vossler, Bismarck, Eunice Vossler, Mercer, Verdelle Vossler, Minneapolis, and Pearlene Dockter, Bismarck.
Deloris was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Arley, Leland, Wesley and Jim and Koleen Vossler; sisters-in-law and their husbands, Theresa (Mike) Dockter, Ruth (Herbert) Engel, and Helen (Roger) Olson; and brothers-in-law, John (Adeline) Dockter and Alfred Dockter.
