Deloris
Jaskoviak
Jul 19, 1933 — Aug 25, 2026
Deloris passed away at Good Samaritan Sunset Home. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Deloris was born July 19, 1933 to Joseph Masseth and Regina (Feist) Masseth in Emmons County. Deloris contracted polio at a young age and even though it affected her physically, she looked at life like it was a challenge. No one dared tell her she wasn’t able to do something.
The family moved to Bismarck where her parents purchased a house and turned it into a boarding house. She attended St. Mary’s elementary and high school where she was involved in the choir.
Her family created a little band that played at weddings and other events. Deloris was the singer. She loved to dance and one night a handsome young man and his buddies showed up for the festivities, and he met Deloris and the rest is history.
Boyd Jaskoviak and Deloris Masseth married at St. Mary’s church on October 4, 1952.
Deloris was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary, serving on many various committees and offices. Boyd was very active in the Legion Baseball program and during the summer it was common to have a player drop off torn pants from the previous night’s game where she patched things up like new.
She was an amazing seamstress and sewed pretty much all of her and her daughter’s clothes. Deloris was always creating and crafting things like crocheting, quilting, ceramics and drawing. She never turned down an opportunity to babysit her two granddaughters and would spend hours playing Crazy 8’s, cuddling and spoiling them.
She will be greatly missed by her family: son, Steven, Jamestown; and daughter, Cathie (Francis) Thill, Mandan. Her two granddaughters, Cassie (Jeremy) Bauer and Leah Jaskoviak; great-granddaughter, Sydney Bauer (fiancé Bennett Vatnsdal); great-grandsons, Brock Bauer (special friend Jaidynn Doe), and Braxton Jaskoviak.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Alvina (John) Reis, Clarence (Fern) Masseth, and Gilbert (Ursula) Masseth; her son, Gary; daughter-in-law, Desi Roth; and a granddaughter, Renata Jaskoviak.
In honor of Deloris’ huge love of animals, in lieu of flowers, please consider donations to: Furry Friends Rockin’ Rescue (PO Box 7364, Bismarck, ND 58507), or Central Dakota Humane Society (2104 37th St., Mandan, ND 58554).
We love you, mom. Now go show those guys in heaven how to polka!
