It is with great sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Doloris Dodge Ruderman, age 91, of Bismarck, North Dakota on April 15th, 2026.
She was born November 28, 1934 in Aberdeen, Washington a daughter of the late Harold A. Dodge and Lucille (Trudeau) Dodge. As a child they relocated and was raised in Chicago, Illinois. As a young lady, she was named Miss Chicago in a talent and beauty scholarship pageant and modeled for several of Chicago’s exclusive department stores. Doloris also learned to sew and in addition to making her own clothes she began a lifelong love of fashion/design culminating in the establishment of Doloris Couture, handcrafted luxury clothing.
In the summer of 1950 on the banks of Lake Michigan's Gold Coast on Foster Beach, she met lifeguard Noel “Nick” Ruderman whom she married in 1954 and enjoyed 47 years together until his passing in 2001. To that union came five beautiful children. Doloris’s love and dedication to her family spurred extraordinary culinary talent to her friends and family's epicurean delight. She also achieved many accolades in her career acting as an employment agency management professional in Chicago.
Doloris was a 30 plus year active member of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit Bismarck, ND. She is a perpetual member of The Apostle of St. Jude Thaddeus and was a member of the Serra Club of Bismarck/Mandan.
Doloris is survived by sons Christopher (Teresa) Ruderman of Eugene, Oregon, Adam (Kristi) Ruderman Decatur, Illinois and daughter Jennifer Darts Dothan, Alabama.
Grandchildren Nicolas (Brooke) Darts, Adam C. Ruderman,
Dr Ashley (Rachel) Ruderman-Looff, Glen Ruderman, Jeremy (Rachel) Ruderman, Kaylie Ruderman. Great grandchildren include Bryson and Noel Darts, Jack and June Ruderman.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Noel Ruderman, sister Laurel Blanch, daughter Tracy L. Wells, son Jeremy J. Ruderman. Special friends Tim Hallas and George Glasby.
The family would like to thank dear friends Karen Mcnamee, the Clergy of The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. Melody of Cornerstone Home Health, Sanford Hospice team Lisa, Kait and Kayla for their love and care of our beloved mother.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Monday April 20th at the Columbarium, Mandan Union Cemetery Mandan, ND.
Memorials in honor of Doloris may be sent to the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
