Donald Ely

Donald Dwayne Ely, 84, of Bismarck passed away on May 23, 2024. 

A committal service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 29 at Sunset Memorial Gardens of Bismarck.

Donald was born in Bismarck, ND on July 29, 1939, son of Clarence and Enid (Gilman) Ely. 

During Donald’s early life he joined the National Guard. After his discharge, Donald worked at Yegen Dairy.

Donald met and married the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Gloria (Dockter), on March 7, 1964. They resided in Bismarck for several years before moving the family to Texas in 1984. Donald and Gloria lived in Texas for 22 years but eventually moved back home to Bismarck.

In Donald’s spare time, he enjoyed fishing, farming in Wing, ND, and spending time with his grandchildren. 

Donald is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gloria; daughters, Robin Ely and Raynell Ely (Danny Hummel); grandchildren, Bethany Tjaden, Brad Ely, and Skylar Kloster; great-grandchild, Blaine Melom; and sister, Linda Ely. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Janice Schneider.
