Donna Rixen, 89, died February 17, 2018, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Craig Schweitzer officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday February 20, from 5:00 – 7:00pm. Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, at a later date. Donna Jean Paulson was born in Minnesota December 10, 1928 to Dean and Gladys Harris Paulson. She was the second of eight children. She was raised and attended school in Haynes, ND. After school she attended hair dressing school in Bismarck. Her work career included Rodman’s Drugstore in Hettinger, Francis Senn Beauty Shop in Mott, and the Tax Department in Bismarck. On August 25, 1954 she married John Rixen Jr. of Mott, ND. From that union, their daughter, Pam was born. They lived in Mott and owned Rixen’s Tire Shop.  On September 1, 1990, John passed away. Donna enjoyed playing cards, reading, and baking. She was known for her rosettes. She is survived by her daughter, Pam Borchers, Bismarck; her sister Arlys Miller, Terry, MT; five sister-in-laws, Martha Rixen (Richard), Mott, ND, Angie Rixen (Neil), Minot, ND, Tina Rixen (Ron), New England, ND, Nancy Paulson (Eldon), Redlands, CA, Carol Paulson (Doug), Houston, TX; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Jr.; her parents, Dean and Gladys Paulson; her sister, Audrey; her brothers, Eldon, Doug, Robert, Don and infant brother Kenny. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Shriners Children Hospital or a charity of your choice.
