Doriene JoEllen Olsen, 55, New Salem, formerly of Bismarck, loving mother of three and grandmother of six, passed away peacefully with family at her side on May 27, 2022, after a courageous 22-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 3 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 106 Osage Ave., Bismarck. Visitation will be held one hour prior.
Burial will be held at Mandan Union Cemetery, Mandan.
Doriene was born on October 3, 1966, in Harvey. She was raised in Bismarck by her beloved parents, Jim and Claudia Schuster, along with her four siblings, Debbie, Steve, Laren and LaDean.
After high school, she earned her most treasured role as a mother. Her years raising her children on the farm brought her much joy. She tended to a large, beautiful vegetable garden, herd of sheep and enjoyed helping the kids with their various 4H projects. As a mother, she was generous, loving and kind. A homecooked meal was on the table every night. On top of being a great cook, she always made time to help with school projects, 4H club, teaching Sunday school, and any chores that needed to be done on the farm.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed summers at the family lake cabin. She always looked forward and attended every family gathering. Doriene was influenced by her family to be a loving and caring woman.
Her six grandchildren were her pride and joy. Every chance she got she was telling a story that involved one of her grandchildren. Many hours were spent playing games and storytelling with them.
She loved attending bible study, participating in Kackle Klub, trips with friends and listening to country music. In her free time, she always had a good novel in her hand.
She will be greatly missed by her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
Doriene is survived by her mother, Claudia Schuster, Bismarck; siblings, LaDean Renner, Mandan; Laren Schuster, Lemmon; Debbie (Wade) Huber, Maple Grove, Minn.; Steve (Kathy) Schuster, Lincoln; children, Ryan (Codi) Olsen, Hazen; RandiJo (Mike) Acton, New Salem; Tucker (Kayla) Olsen, Mandan; grandchildren, Emma, Hunter, Conner, Jace, Everly and Ridge; and many loving family members.
With a heavy heart, goodbye to a wonderful woman, sister, daughter, mother and grandmother.
