Doris Ann Van Beek, 84, Bismarck, passed away unexpectedly in the early morning of September 5, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Gracepoint Church 205 43rd Ave NE, Bismarck. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, September 8, from 5:00-7:00 PM and will continue one hour prior to service on Tuesday. A luncheon will be held after service followed by the burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Doris Ann was born to Israel & Ruth (Falkenstein) Keator in Bismarck on July 31, 1941, graduating from Bismarck High School with the Class of ’59. Doris Ann and Don were high school sweethearts and were married on February 4,1961 in Bismarck and shared a full life of milestones and memories together.
They welcomed two children, Darren and Jeff. Doris Ann spent many years as a homemaker taking care of their children. As they grew older, she joined the workforce at Civil Defense, moving on to Froeschle Sons Inc. and then spent her remaining working years in the finance division at ND Human Services.
Doris Ann had many hobbies to keep busy. She was very involved in church ministries, specifically AWANA, White Cross, prayer chains, and meal trains. Doris Ann had a love for butterflies and all things patriotic, that was known by everyone in her life. Doris Ann also enjoyed tea parties with her neighbors and occasional lunch dates with past coworkers celebrating birthdays and catching up on the latest events of life.
Doris Ann is survived by her husband, Don; children, Darren and Jeff (Becky); grandchildren, Jennifer (Bob) Stenerson and Daniel (Shelby) Van Beek; great-grandchildren, Jadilyn, Hailey, and Levi. Siblings, Norma Kienzle and Lester (Lois) Keator; siblings-in-law, Merwin Backman, Jean Dykema, Doris (Dennis) Dykema and Ron Schulz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Israel and Ruth; sibling, Myrna Backman; siblings-in-law Norman Kienzle, Marvin Dykema, Wilma Tommy, Delvin Van Beek, Pearl Schulz, and Marilyn Van Beek.
