Duane Buck, 84, Bismarck, passed away May 7, 2025

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 16, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck.

Visitation will begin one hour before the services.

Burial will be held at the Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.

Duane Delmore Buck was born on January 31, 1941, in Streeter, North Dakota, to Jacob and Ida Buck. A devoted husband, loving father, treasured grandfather, and faithful servant of God, Duane, surrounded by loved ones, went to see his Heavenly Father on May 7, 2025.

At just 14 years old, Duane started working as an elevator boy at the Gladstone Hotel in Jamestown. Over the years, he worked various jobs before starting his career in insurance sales, which he continued for 30 years until his retirement.

Duane met the love of his life, Vivian, at Evangel Temple in Bismarck in 1960. He loved to say that when he saw her at church for the first time, he knew he had to call her. Duane and Vivian married in 1962 and shared nearly 54 wonderful years together before Vivian’s passing in 2016. They raised two daughters and created a family full of love, laughter, games, road trips, and cherished memories—especially once grandkids arrived. He was steadfast in his walk with the Lord, loved his church family, and enjoyed the many friendships made during the sixty years he attended Evangel. He faithfully taught 1st-grade Sunday school for many years.

He is survived by his daughters, Vickie (Dan) Selness and Jenell (Troy) Halverson; grandchildren, Austin (Caroline) Selness, Alexa Selness, Aubri (Jake) Rossbach, Tyler Nallick, and Chase Nallick; and great-granddaughter, Addie Mae Selness. He leaves behind many loved ones who will miss him dearly.

Dad, we will miss our prayer warrior and your gentle encouragement. Grandpa — we will miss your comforting hugs. Thank you for joining us grandkids in our silly fun. We cannot wait to make apple pie, take long walks, and especially laugh with you again.
