Dwight Wangen

April 4, 1957 — October 3, 2025

Dwight “YT” Wangen, of Bismarck, ND, passed away on October 3rd surrounded by family. Born April 4, 1957, in Harvey, Dwight lived life on his own terms — with a smile on his face, a story on his lips, and the kind of presence that made strangers into friends.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway. This is a time where his friends and family can gather to share memories and honor the road he traveled.

Visitation on Tuesday, from 5-7:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway.

Burial will take place at the Hillsdale Cemetery, ND.

He spent his working years as a truck driver and a skilled machine operator/welder, but his true passions lived outside of work. A lifelong motorcyclist and hot rod enthusiast, Dwight was happiest tinkering on projects in the garage, shooting pool, or gathering around a poker table. He loved his children deeply and took great joy in being their dad. He also enjoyed keeping fish, spending hours tending to his aquariums with the same care and patience he showed in other parts of life.

He is survived by his daughters Melissa Wangen, Vanessa (Mike) Mihulka, and Brenda (Ben) Howard; step-grandson Xander Howard; siblings Claude (Kathy) Wangen, Dave (Dorie) Wangen, Bryan Wangen, and Diana Rader; nieces and nephews Scott, Jennifer, Sarah, Kyle, Cody, and Mikayla; and countless friends who felt like family.

Dwight is preceded in death by his children Christina Wangen and Bradley Wangen; sisters Delta Wangen and Lori Matuska.

To those who knew him, Dwight will be remembered for his laugh, his stories, and his way of bringing people together.
