Edward William Kuntz, of Linton, ND was 76 years old. Ed was the third eldest child of Leo and Pauline (Horner) Kuntz. He was married to Linda Volk and later divorced. They had two children together. Providing for his two children was his top priority. His life changed for the better when he became a father.

He was a bricklayer by trade and much of his work can be seen throughout Linton and North Dakota. Later he became a brand inspector which is what he did until retirement.

His life always involved horses, you could say they ran in his blood. He competed in the Suicide Races, trained and bred horses and shared his love of horses with his children and grandchildren. Every year Ed would load up the horses and grandkids and take them to Medora where they, too, learned to love horses. Those memories will forever be etched into their hearts.

Ed loved the outdoors. He always looked forward to hunting and fishing but above all, he loved spending time with his friends and family. He cherished his winters in Florida with his son Leo and Leo’s girlfriend, Cat.

Though many remember Ed as a rough and tumble, fiery and fierce man, his grandchildren changed his outlook on life. They were the gentle touch that made the rough edges smooth, they were the water that cooled the flames. They shared life together in countless meaningful ways. However, the most important thing they shared with him was their faith in Jesus and His resurrected life. His grandchildren were truly the light of his life. He didn’t simply love them—he lived for them. He treasured every moment he could spend with them and made time for them in a way they will never forget.

In his youth, and for most of his adult life, he was fiery, fierce and very capable. In the end, his life was filled with love. He passed away quickly and, in the place, he loved most, with his family. He is loved and will be dearly missed.

Ed was preceded in death by his brothers Leo and Bob and sister Connie. He is survived by his son Leo, his daughter, Jocelyn Strom (Jonathan) and his three grandchildren, Eli, Abigail and Russell.

We invite you to attend his Celebration of Life in Linton, ND. It will be held Saturday, October 3rd from 4-5:30pm at the community center.
