Elinor Thal Gibbs, daughter of Alfred Thal and Bertha Rigler Thal, born in Bismarck on September 27, 1930, passed away at the age of 93 at the Los Angeles Jewish Home on October 11, 2023.  Elinor left Bismarck to attend Northwestern University in 1948, marrying Seymour Budd Gibbs of Los Angeles, California, in Bismarck on July 14, 1951.  Elinor graduated from Northwestern in 1953 and later received a Master’s degree in Kinesiology from UCLA in the early 1970s. Elinor returned to Bismarck many times for several high school reunions and to visit her parents who later relocated to Los Angeles.

Elinor requested to be buried near her parents and grandparents at the historic Bismarck Jewish cemetery section at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Her burial is Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 11 am.  Her father Alfred Thal was the long-time record keeper for the Bismarck Jewish Cemetery.

Elinor is survived by four children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
