Engelhart J. (EJ, Butch, Enge) Dressler, age 89, of Bismarck, N.D., passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at his home on August 11, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Friday, August 17, at Church of Corpus Christi, 1919 N 2nd St., Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm Thursday, August 16, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. EJ was born October 23, 1928, in Brisbane, N.D., the youngest of seven children. He was raised on the family farm until he moved to Bismarck to live with his older brother Ralph and wife Katie (Kathryn). EJ married Ann Job in 1949. EJ held various positions in the grocery and beverage industry before first managing, then owning and operating the successful Buy Rite Food Center in downtown Bismarck. In retirement, EJ enjoyed his passions, gardening, canning, hunting, fishing, dancing, and spending time with his family and friends. EJ was especially proud of his children, Corgene (Daryl) Wahl, Jeff (Deb), Enge, and Pamela (Kerry) Emter; and grandchildren, Torrey, Todd, Garrett, Wynn, Brittney, Samantha, Rebecca, Amber, Jade, and Dalton; 15 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. EJ is survived by his brother, Al; his children and grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close and special friends. EJ was proceded in death by his wife, Ann, his parents, John and Matilda; brothers, Lambert, Lou, and Ralph; and sisters, Peggy and Rosie. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in EJ’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
