IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Fayline
Woo
December 3, 1944 – December 30, 2025
Fay Woo, 81, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan in Mandan, North Dakota, in 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Fay was born on December 3, 1944, in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Her family later moved where she met Gordon Woo. They married and welcomed their first two daughters in Winnipeg, Manitoba, which became their new home. Fay devoted herself to her family while Gordon worked at the Westin and continued to develop and master cooking techniques on his own.
Gordon and Fay moved to Minot, North Dakota, to open their own Chinese restaurant. In 1978, they relocated to Bismarck to open The Wok and The Eggroll, followed by Jade Garden. While Gordon served as chef, Fay thrived as the bookkeeper and host. Her warm smile and fun-loving, easygoing, and caring personality made customers feel like family.
Fay was a devoted and supportive wife, a loving mother, and a cherished friend. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, reading, playing games, and spending time with family and friends. In her younger years, she was an avid curler and enjoyed participating in recreational sports.
She is survived by her three daughters: Deborah Jonson (Jeff), Su-Lin Werner (John), and Tracy Woo of Bismarck; four grandsons: Jaden and Jonas Jonson (Brooke), Samuel Tschida, and others; brothers Ben Yip and Dave Yip (Fran); sisters Mayline Yip and Arlene Yip (Roland); and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Gordon Woo; her parents, Jim and Pauline; and her brother, Don.
The family will hold a small private celebration of Fay’s life. The family respectfully requests, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Bismarck Parkinson’s Support Group, PO Box 4174, Bismarck, ND 58502.
The family expresses heartfelt thanks for the kindness, love, and support shown over the years. The support of family, friends, and customers has been instrumental in their lives. They are grateful for the many blessings bestowed upon their family and pray the same for you.
