Floraine Dougherty, 96, Bismarck, passed away on February 12, 2024.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Floraine Fay Dougherty, 96 passed away as she lived, quietly and with dignity on February 12, 2024. She was born September 3, 1927 at Bismarck Hospital to Lester and Aileen (Magee) White; graduated from high school in Steele, ND and taught school for a time at the Buckeye township country school north of Tappen, ND then worked at the Kidder County Court house until her marriage to Lyle Dougherty on October 3, 1948.  After being widowed at age 45, she began her second working career at Security State Bank and Morton County Social Services until her retirement at age 80. She cared for her mother while working full time until she entered a local care center.  

She cared for her grandmother when just out of high school and then cared for her mother while working full time until her Aileen entered a local care center.  Floraine was a quiet caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She took immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren watching them grow into responsible, productive adults.   They, like her children will always remember her for her kindness, love, fried chicken dinners, peach pies and wonderful Christmas celebrations.  She kept an immaculate house and yard with an abundance of her favorite flowers well into her late 80s.

She is survived by four children, Mark (MJ) Dougherty, Juanita (Jerry) Rix, Margo (Timothy) Mullner and Roger (Terry) Dougherty; 12 grandchildren, Lance, Tylar and Rowena Anderson, Shanna (Eric) Bach, Tanner (Amanda) Rix, Ian (Kate) Rix, Ethan (Daley) Rix; Jordan (Taylor) Mullner, Eric (Kate Buman) Mullner and Sean Mullner; Santana (Kevin) Saunders and Marcus Dougherty; 17 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Bud Anderson; sister-in-law, Loretta White; and brother-in-law, Marvin Stenberg.

Floraine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Pamela Anderson; four siblings & two sisters-in-law, Gene (Carol) White, Bill (Helen) White, Glenn White and Cora Stenberg.
