Francis Michael Boechler, 83, died October 9, 2025, in a local Bismarck hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday October 13, 2025, at Pro Cathedral of St. Mary’s Church, 825 E. Broadway Ave, Bismarck, with the Rev. Dustin Johns officiating. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck with a Rosary and Vigil Prayer service starting at 5:00 PM.
Frank was born November 21, 1941, in Minot, ND, to Michael and Frances (Leier) of Makoti, ND. After graduation from high school, he worked in missile construction until he entered military service where he obtained the rank of Specialist 4th Class. On March 30, 1964, he married Joan Bartelson. They were stationed in Fort Belvior, VA, where their son, Michael, was born. After military service, they welcomed twin daughters, Dianne and Doreene and the family settled in Parshall, ND until 1991 when they moved to Bismarck.
Frank acquired a self-taught technical education and worked in the telephone industry for over 40 years. He played bass guitar in several country and western bands and was an excellent dancer. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a formidable opponent in every trivia game. His favorite pastimes included fishing and crossword puzzles. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed restoring his 57 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser.
Frank especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He spent many hours attending their school and extracurricular activities. He was an avid card player and cherished Pinochle Nights with his grandsons. Frank’s Catholic faith was very important to him. He was a member of the Church of Ascension and was a true prayer warrior.
Privileged to have shared life with Frank are his children, Dianne (Clint) Leingang of Mandan and Doreene (David) Pusc of Bismarck; daughter-in-law Betty Boechler of Baton Rouge, LA; his grandchildren, Camille Boechler, Ethan, Evan (Emily) and Ean Leingang; his sisters Mary Larson, Minot, and Barbara (Allen) Dyke, Plaza, brothers James (Marlene) Boechler, of Calgary, Alberta and Alphonse Boechler, Minot; and sister-in-law Judy (Jim) Malone of Beebe, AR; and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his beloved wife, Joanie, his cherished son Michael, his parents Michael and Frances Boechler, his sister Charlotte (and Gene) Tvedt, brother Clement (and Cheryl) Boechler, and brother-in-law David Larson.
