Obituary

Frank Schrock, 84, passed away on June 17, 2026, in Bismarck, North Dakota. A man of quiet discipline and hands-on ingenuity, Frank’s life was defined by a lifelong desire to remain productive and a deep devotion to his faith.

Frank was born on September 20, 1941, in Bay Minette, Alabama, to Abraham and Lydia Schrock. He was one of 16 children born to his parents. Following the passing of his mother Lydia, his father remarried, and five more children joined the family, bringing the total to 21 brothers and sisters. Frank was raised on the family farm, where he learned the value of physical labor at an early age. Homeschooled through the eighth grade, his daily life was shaped by work in the fields, cultivating a lifelong drive to always stay active and useful.

As a young man, Frank moved to the Atlanta, Georgia area, where he met Sible Burnett. They were married in 1971 and settled in Austell, Georgia, where they raised their two daughters, Julie and Sharon. Frank and Sible remained together for 32 years until her passing in 2003. Throughout his decades in Georgia, Frank formed deep, enduring friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Frank was a true jack-of-all-trades who took great pride in being resourceful. There was virtually nothing he couldn't build, fix, or figure out. Whether it was complex construction, electrical work, or plumbing, he approached every task with practical skill. He spent his life working with his hands, later moving to Mississippi, to work alongside his brother, Steve. Alongside his daily routines, Frank's faith was a central, unyielding pillar of his life, and he structured his time strictly around his deeply held religious convictions.

In 2019, recognizing that he was no longer able to manage completely on his own, Frank moved to Bismarck, North Dakota, to be near family. He spent his final four and a half years as a resident at Edgewood Memory Care. Even as he faced the profound challenges of dementia, Frank’s core drive to be helpful never wavered. He became a vital, beloved fixture of the Edgewood community, famously sweeping the dining room floors after every meal, helping new residents adjust to their surroundings, and following the maintenance team to see if he could lend a hand.

Literally until his final days, Frank's singular desire was simply to get up, get out, and help people. As the last remaining resident of the facility's original group, Frank left an indelible mark on the staff who cared for him. In his final hours, numerous staff members visited to share stories, express their love, and honor the quiet, impactful presence he maintained until the very end.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Abraham and Lydia Schrock; his wife, Sible; and his siblings, Fanny, Polly, Amanda, Saloma, Moses Alan, Rudy, Josephine, Howard, Johnny, and Robert.

He is survived by his daughters, Julie (Walter) Fisher of Bismarck, ND, and Sharon (Peter) Wang of Frisco, Texas; his grandchildren, River, Alastair, Tristan, Tessa, and Matthew; his siblings, Lovina, Dena, Barbara, Dorothy, Joe, Steve, Carolyn, Amos, Eugene, and Mary Beth; and a large network of surviving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
