Garold L. Mauch

April 27, 1957 — January 29, 2025

Garold L. Mauch 67, of Bismarck, formerly of Goodrich, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at a Bismarck hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck.

Garold was born on April 27, 1957, to Harold and Kathleen (O’Neill) Mauch. He was raised on the family farm near Goodrich and attended school in the area. Farming was in his blood, and he dedicated his life to the land he loved. On October 18, 1980, Garold married June Nowell, and together they raised a family while making a home near the Mauch farm. They spent 26 years there before building a new home across the road from the original farmstead in 2006. In November 2021, they moved to Bismarck, where they resided until his passing.

Garold had a love for watching TV, especially westerns and bull riding and found peace in the simple joys of life. He enjoyed ranching, as well as attending livestock and auction sales near and far. He was a volunteer with the Goodrich Fire Department. Garold was known for his soft heart and willingness to help others. Those who knew him best remember him as a big teddy bear who loved his family.

In his last few years, Garold especially cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy, and he adored being with them whenever possible. His family meant the world to him, and he took great joy in watching his grandchildren grow.

Garold is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, June; son, Kyle Mauch, and his daughter, Kyleigh; daughter, Megan (Ryan) Smith, and their children, Blake, Witten, and twin girls Elliott and Emmitt—born on Garold and June’s 40th wedding anniversary—all of Lincoln; sister, Delphine (Wesley) Lindteigen, of Turtle Lake; brother, Terrance (Kathy) Mauch, of Bismarck; mother-in-law, Shirley Storkson, of Jamestown; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Anita (Kevin) Tulp, Cynthia (Jay) Bauer, Jerry (Shanon) Nowell, Thomas (Susie) Nowell, and Bonnie Nowell; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his stillborn daughter, Frieda; his 14-year-old son, Keith; parents Harold and Kathleen; brother-in-law, James Nowell; and fathers-in-law, Don Nowell and Allen Storkson.

Garold’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
