Bismarck

Gary Hultin, 78, passed away at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck on June 16, 2023.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 29, at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 1004 E. Highland Acres, Bismarck.

Luncheon will follow the memorial service.

Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.

Gary was born November 14, 1944, in Drayton, ND to the late Lt. John Vernal Hultin and Donna (Hobbs) and was raised by Leonard and Donna Lowe. He grew up in Hoople, ND, where he graduated from Hoople High School in 1962. He attended college at Wahpeton, graduating in 1968. He met his wife, LaVonne Albers while in college. They were married on September 5, 1965. They relocated to Iowa in 1968 and moved back to ND in 1971. They had two children from their union, Chad and Dawn.

Gary spent the majority of his career working in electronics within the hospital system in the Bio Med Department. He retired in 2010 after 30 years with the Medcenter One/Sanford hospital. When he was not working you would find him bowling, on a softball field, pitching horseshoes, or golfing. He loved going camping with his wife at Hart Ranch in SD every summer, spending weeks or months at a time. They enjoyed taking in the beauty of the Black Hills while sharing many conversations with people they met from all over the country. He was always up for socializing and loved spending time with family and friends.        

He is survived by his mother, Donna Lowe; children, Chad (Kim) Hultin of Mandan, Dawn (Darrell) Slag of Bismarck, brother, Robert (Jean) Lowe of Colorado, brother in-law, LaMont Albers of Oakes, grandchildren, Dezaray (Joe) Kitzman, Breanna Miller, Ashley Luptak, Hailee Luptak, Hanna Luptak, and great-granddaughter, Addilynn Luptak. 

He was preceded in death by: his spouse, LaVonne Hultin, father John Vernel Hultin, and step-father, Leonard Lowe.
