In 1996, Gazala embarked on a new chapter, immigrating to the United States and making her home in Bismarck, North Dakota. Here, she continued to be a devoted mother and grandmother, her love and care a constant presence in the lives of her growing family.

Gazala is lovingly remembered by her 11 children, 27 grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Greeb Petrus; two sons; and two brothers.
