Gerald
Weinmann
Nov 20, 1938 — Oct 1, 2026
Gerald Arthur Weinmann passed away on October 1, 2026. He was a great Dad, brother, grandpa, and son, and a kind, loyal friend.
A Memorial Service will start at 1 p.m., on Monday, October 5, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy.
Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery.
He was born November 20, 1938, at home on the (Fessenden) family farm to Joseph and Julia (Jordan) Weinmann.
He attended St. Anna school in Fessenden until his family moved to a farm outside of Harvey. He graduated from Harvey High School in 1956. After high school he attended North Dakota State University for a short time, but at the age of 18 decided to seek his fortune out west. He sold his FFA pigs for $200 to fund his adventure. He ended up in Seattle working for Boeing but decided he didn’t like the big city. He returned home to North Dakota and graduated from Minot State College with a teaching degree.
He taught first through eighth grade in a one-room schoolhouse in Pony Gulch, Fessenden. He also taught in Glasgow, Montana. Eventually he began working at the post office in Harvey. He transferred to the Bismarck post office in 1967, and worked there as a mail carrier until he retired. During this period he raised four daughters.
He loved spending time outdoors. He patiently taught all four of his daughters how to fish, and we spent many happy times camping and fishing during our childhood. He also loved to hunt and was still hunting into his eighties.
Gerald had always wanted a place in the country. He made that dream come true in 2001 when he bought a 25 acre piece of heaven after he retired. He loved spending time on his land. He had a big party every year on the anniversary of the date he purchased the property.
He loved classic country music and always had KBMR on his radio. He had a great sense of humor and appreciated a good joke. He loved to sit around his kitchen table and visit with a can of beer in his hand. Most of all he loved his daughters.
Gerald is survived by his daughters, Lisa Weinmann (Bruce Elscott), Tracey Albers, and Andrea (Chris) Grondahl; son-in-law, Greg Maack; siblings Virginia Swedlund, Duane (Cecilia), Weinmann, Carol Hanly, and Mary (Terry) Meier; grandchildren Jackson and Lauren Elscott, Desirae, Marcus, and Isaac Maack, Lexi and Ashley Albers, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jodi Maack, and his parents, Joseph and Julia Weinmann.
