Gerald was born in Rugby, North Dakota on June 21st, 1943 to Louie and Kathryn (Kuntz)Wolf. He was the 3rd of 11 children. He grew up on the family farm, attending country school. At an early age he began to work for farmers around the area. In 1962, he went to work at the missile sites around Grand Forks, he then moved to Seattle Washington in 1964. While living out west he worked various jobs including loading/unloading flour and labor and construction work which led him to a company called Klogstad where he worked as a concrete finisher.
It was in Seattle that he met the love of his life, Diana Fronk. In 1970, they moved back to North Dakota and married on November 21st, 1970. Together, they took over the family farm and for next 26 years they built an amazing life together, raising cattle and producing dairy products. During those years they were blessed with two children, Jamie and Deanna. Life on the farm was never dull with friends and family always present.
Gerald was an active member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Orrin, the Knights of Columbus and was an Eagles member. In 1996, Gerald and Diana moved to Rugby where Gerald worked at the Heart of America Medical Center and at the Rugby Eagles Club. He later went to work for Hartly Bus Service, driving school and charter buses. During his charter bus driving, he was able to see many places all over the US. It was on one of those trips to Montana where Gerald had a debilitating stroke. He was lucky to be transported to Billings which had a wonderful Stroke unit. He transferred to St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck to finish out his rehab therapies.
In December 2006, Gerald and Diana moved to Bismarck to be closer to his medical staff. He worked for various thrift stores and as a Walmart greeter before he retired. In the summer of 2019, he moved into Missouri Slope Care Center. While living there he made valued friendships with other residents and staff. He thoroughly enjoyed bingo, church and the live music provided by the activity department.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 53 years Diana; his son, Jamie (Sherri) Wolf, their children, Christopher, Grace, Dasha, Jamie Jr., and Dylan; his daughter, Deanna (Scott) Schaf, their children Acelyn and Carter, and one great-grandchild, Lilith Mattern.
